WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin has tied Wayne Gretzky’s NHL goals record, collecting his 894th — and second of the game — Friday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ovechkin scored at 6:13 of the third period to give Washington a 4-3 lead. He went down to one knee celebrating, then was mobbed by teammates as fans erupted.
