Six people have been found dead in a luxury hotel in Bangkok in what police suspect was a poisoning.

The bodies of the six people – four Vietnamese nationals and two Vietnamese Americans – were discovered downtown in Thailand’s capital on Tuesday.

An initial report that there had been a shooting was dismissed by a local police official.

“There is no sign of a shooting,” the official said.

Thailand’s prime minister has ordered an investigation into the incident.

The Thai newspaper Matichon showed photos of police at the Grand Hyatt Erwan Hotel investigating the deaths after being summoned by hotel staff. It said five bodies were found inside a room and one outside.
