LadBaby have made recording history by securing the Christmas number one for a fourth consecutive year, becoming the first act to do so in the 70 years of the official Christmas chart.
LadBaby’s Sausage Rolls For Everyone ft Ed Sheeran and Elton John secured the festive top spot, the Official Charts Company has confirmed.
The milestone means LadBaby have now surpassed previous records set by the Spice Girls and The Beatles, who are the only other acts to have bagged three consecutive Christmas number ones.
The novelty track is a parody of Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John’s festive hit Merry Christmas, which had occupied the top spot in the singles chart for the previous two weeks.
The remake has brought in over 136,000 chart sales since its release on 17 December, 85% of which were made digitally, and all proceeds earned from the song will be donated to The Trussell Trust, which campaigns to end food poverty in Britain.
Previous Christmas number ones by LadBaby include We Built This City (2018), I Love Sausage Rolls (2019) and Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ (2020).
The act, which is made up of graphic designer Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne, told OfficialCharts.com: “Thank you, thank you, thank you to the great British public, for every single person in this country that has downloaded and streamed this song over the last week. You’re all absolute legends.
“Thank you for helping us raise the profile, raise money and awareness for the Trussell Trust, the food banks in the UK and helping support the 14 million people in this country that are living below the positivity line.
“We couldn’t have done it without you.”
LadBaby’s track knocked the song it was parodying into second spot in the singles chart.
Wham’s Last Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas took third and fourth place.
In the album chart, Adele landed the number one spot with her record 30 for the sixth week in a row.
