A car has driven into a group of people at a Christmas market in Germany, a news agency has reported.
Dpa said the driver had been arrested following the incident in the eastern city of Magdeburg.
A local government spokesperson said several people had been injured and several may have been killed, Reuters reported, citing public broadcaster MDR.
Police said on X that extensive operations were taking place at the Magdeburg Christmas market.
The market in the city centre was closed and further reports would follow, police added.
Magdeburg, which is west of Berlin, is the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt and has a population of about 240,000.
