Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Teesside, Cleveland Police have said.
The man, 26, died on Hills Drive in Stockton-on-Tees at around midnight on Thursday.
The force said formal identification has not yet taken place, but the victim’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
Detectives have been questioning five people as part of a murder investigation and they all remain in custody.
Local media showed photos on Thursday morning from Hills Drive – a residential area just north of the town centre – where a blue forensic tent was erected.
Teesside Live also spoke to one local resident who said he had treated the victim at the scene.
He told the news outlet he heard “high-pitched screaming”, ran over to the man, saw him on the floor and “started doing CPR”. He added: “He was still alive at that point.”
One image also showed an officer guarding a taped-off area of the road surrounded by cones.
