The Barbenheimer phenomenon gave a welcome lift to the movie world this summer, following months-long strikes across the industry.

But while Barbie won the box office battle with $1.4bn (£1.1bn) in global ticket sales, Oppenheimer ruled the roost at this year’s Academy Awards.

British director Christopher Nolan’s three-hour-epic took seven gongs, while Frankenstein re-imagining Poor Thing’s won four, unsettling holocaust drama The Zone Of Interest took two and Barbie ended up with just one golden statuette.
