One person has died and at least 10 people have been injured after a shooting near to where the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade was taking place, the fire department has said.

The Chiefs’ were celebrating their weekend win against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

Michael Hopkins from the KCFD said three people are in a critical condition, five are serious and one is in a non-life-threatening condition.

Police said two armed people were taken into custody.

Video footage showed a chaotic scene outside the station as officers stormed into the building while people who had been attending the Super Bowl celebration ran for safety.

“Shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage and multiple people were struck,” police said on X.

“We took two armed people into custody for more investigation.”

Crowds had lined the streets to welcome the winning team to celebrate their third Super Bowl title in five seasons.

The team then took to the stage to address the crowds, including Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, who was held up by teammates as he sang to fans.
