Police dashcam footage has shown officers repeatedly smashing into the side of an Amazon delivery van during a high-speed chase in south Florida.

The Amazon van had allegedly been stolen from a car dealership while delivering parts before the chase on Interstate 95 last week.

Footage showed the police car smashing into the back right-hand side of the van as both vehicles travelled at speed along the busy highway.

The van travelled across multiple lanes during the chase

The shunts caused the van to at one stage spin completely around, careering across at least two lanes and for a brief period facing oncoming traffic, before once again travelling in the same direction as other cars.

An officer inside the police car was heard saying “come on!” as the driver executed the dangerous manoeuvre.

The van then smashed into the side of the police vehicle, which by this point had overtaken it.

It’s not long before the vehicles changed position once more, with the Amazon van speeding past the police car as the driver tried to get away.

The officers returned to their tactic of bashing into the side of the large van.

The police car stopped by the side of the road as the van sped off into the distance.

Police said the driver eventually abandoned the vehicle and started running before he was caught by officers.

Officers have named the man who was subsequently arrested as Jose Carlo Blanquicett.

Florida Highway Patrol said the 23-year-old had just stolen the van from a North Miami car dealership while it was delivering parts.

He now faces a string of charges, including grand theft.
