A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death near a Cornwall nightclub.
Michael Allen, who was 32 and from Liskeard, died at the scene and seven other men and women also suffered stab wounds during the incident in Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road in Bodmin early on Sunday.
The seven were taken to hospital, but six have since been discharged.
Police had been called at 3.15am to a serious altercation close to Eclipse nightclub.
Officers attended following reports of a person with a knife and multiple people with suspected stab wounds.
Jake Hill, from Bodmin, has now been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and two counts of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is due to appear before Truro Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
The force has appealed for members of the public to send them any doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage which may help with their investigation.
Mr Allen’s family released a statement following the incident calling him a “much-loved son, brother, grandson, and uncle who loved his dogs”.
Bodmin Rugby Club also paid tribute, saying he had joined earlier this season “and quickly became a big part of our squad”.
“His humour and kindness has left a mark on us all and we will miss him dearly,” the club added.
