Actor Jeremy Renner has posted a picture of himself surrounded by medical staff as he recovers from being crushed by his own snow plough.
The Marvel film star, who has also appeared in films such as The Hurt Locker and TV series Mayor of Kingstown, was seriously injured outside his Nevada ranch on New Year’s Day.
He was trying to pull one of his own vehicles, being driven by a family member, out of the snow when the 6.5-tonne plough ran him over.
An emergency call log revealed how the right side of his chest had collapsed and described the actor as being “completely crushed”.
He was flown to hospital in critical condition and appears to face a long road to recovery, but has now shared another photo with his followers.
Posted on Instagram Stories, it shows him accompanied by medical staff alongside the caption: “Thank you renowned medical ICU team for beginning this journey.”
Renner, who turns 52 on Saturday, also tweeted a video this week as he got a quick head massage in his hospital bed, joking that he’d had “an amazing spa day with my sis and mama”.
Authorities have said the accident happened when Renner tried to jump back in the plough’s driver’s seat after it started to roll away.
The actor was described by the sheriff as a “great neighbour” who had been helping dig out roads swamped with snow near his home in Reno.
Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, is well-known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Hollywood stars including Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo are among those who have sent messages of support.
