After two years away, the Coachella music festival will return in April with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Ye headlining the event.

The festival, which takes place in the Southern Californian desert, has experienced multiple delays and cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But it will return this year across two weekends – 15-17 April and 22-24 April.

Former One Direction member Styles will top the bill on both Fridays, with Eilish on the Saturday slots and West, who officially changed his name to Ye last year, taking the closing the festival on Sunday..

Lil Baby, Phoebe Bridgers, Mancunian rapper slowthai and Bristol-based rock band IDLES will also perform on Friday.

Flume, 21 Savage and Megan Thee Stallion feature on Saturday’s line-up, alongside award-winning London artist Arlo Parks.

The festival will be rounded off with Dojo Cat, Jamie XX, Run The Jewels and Fat Boy Slim on the Sunday slot.

Swedish House Mafia will also return to Coachella this year. The festival’s first weekend is already sold out according to the organisers, with presale tickets for the second due to begin on Friday at 6pm UK time.

Coachella takes place in the Indio desert near Palm Springs and attracted almost a quarter of a million people in 2019.

The 2020 event was scheduled for April of that year but was delayed until October because of the global pandemic.

It was then delayed further, until April 2021, but was cancelled due to the global health crisis.

Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against The Machine were due to headline the cancelled event.

Ocean has postponed his Coachella performance until 2023, while Scott was removed from the line-up after the Astroworld concert tragedy in November 2021 when overcrowding at the Houston festival led to the deaths of 10 people.

It will be the first time Styles has performed at the festival, while Eilish will become the youngest-ever Coachella headliner.
