The Crown leads Emmy nominations with 24 nods – as British talent shines
by 0 The Crown has bagged 24 Emmy nominations, as British talent shines through at the set-piece television awards.
The Crown bagged several nominations in the main categories – for best drama, stars Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin for best actress in a drama, and Josh O’Connor for best actor in a drama.
Emerald Fennell, Helena Bonham-Carter and Gillian Anderson also picked up nods in the supporting actress category for their appearances in the show, with Tobias Menzies grabbing a nomination for supporting actor, while Claire Foy and Charles Dance were recognised for their guest roles in the royal drama.
It will go up against raunchy Netflix show Bridgerton for the coveted best drama trophy, while Rege-Jean Page is up in the best drama actor category.
Elsewhere in the best drama is The Boys, The Handmaid’s Tale, This Is Us, Pose, Lovecraft Country and The Mandalorian.
Meanwhile, Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You has also had several nods, including for best limited series and best actress in a limited series, as well as recognition for its writing and directing.
Other British talent being recognised included Ewan McGregor, for Halston, Paul Bettany, for WandaVision, as well as Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed and Jeremy Swift in football comedy Ted Lasso – which scored 20 nominations.
The Mandalorian, a Star Wars spinoff about a bounty hunter, also scored 24 nominations at the awards – putting it even with The Crown.
Sky Original Mare Of Easttown also scored several nominations, including for best limited series, Kate Winslet for best actress in a miniseries in the title role, and Evan Peters for best supporting actor in a miniseries.
Another Sky show, The Flight Attendant, also gave Kayley Cuoco her first Emmy nomination.
